A good rule is to practice at least 20–25 years of UPSC PYQs for both Prelims and Mains. This time range is usually enough to understand recurring themes, important topics, and how the exam pattern has evolved.

You don’t need to memorize answers. The goal is to analyze trends, identify syllabus linkages, and understand question framing.
Once you’ve worked through a couple of decades of PYQs carefully, the exam starts to feel much more predictable and structured.
