Revising Mains content effectively is about consolidation, not re-reading everything again. If your revision feels like starting from scratch, your notes are too bulky. The goal is compression — turning large topics into short, usable frameworks.

Start by revising topic-wise, not subject-wise. Pick one syllabus theme, quickly scan your micro-notes, and then solve 2–3 PYQs from that topic. This forces active recall and shows whether your revision is actually helping your answer writing.
Next, focus on frameworks instead of facts. For example, for governance, keep ready dimensions like transparency, accountability, efficiency, and citizen participation. When you revise through frameworks, your brain retains structure, not just information.
Finally, follow the 3-layer method:
1st time – Understand and condense
2nd time – Practice and apply
3rd time – Recall without looking
Effective revision is short, sharp, and repeated. The aim is clarity in thinking, not volume of notes.
