Are PYQs-based preparation enough for Prelims?

PYQs are powerful — but not sufficient on their own. They help you understand question patterns, recurring themes, and how UPSC frames trap options. If used properly, they sharpen elimination skills and improve decision-making.

However, PYQs test what has already been asked. Prelims also rewards conceptual clarity and updated awareness. Without strong static foundations and linked current affairs, relying only on them creates gaps.

The smart approach is this: use them as a direction tool, not the entire strategy. Build concepts first, practise PYQ topic-wise, and revise weak areas repeatedly. It guide preparation — they don’t replace it.
